The Weight of Lost Things

Friends, a quiet note to say my first poetry collection is now out in the world.
The Weight of Lost Things gathers the red-dust roads, dogs, and crows that have followed me for years and sets them loose on the page.

If youโ€™d like to read along, you can find the book here:

Thanks for walking this road with me.

โ€” Ryan

Set against the dry pulse of the Australian outback, these poems chart the fractured terrain of boyhood, brutality, young love, and the loyalty of dogs. Fathers vanish, mothers soften, dogs die, and the land never forgives. With language as lean as the paddocks it describes, this book explores what gets buried, what remains unspoken, and the quiet ache of staying when there’s nowhere left to go.

    1. Hi, John. Thereโ€™s a few of us scattered through WordPress. Iโ€™m in Victoria. You? Thereโ€™s lots of Aussie-flavored poems throughout my blog. Drought Town is one that springs to mind immediately. I havenโ€™t been as active posting lately as my energy has been going into this book and a couple of others soon to be released, so you may not have seen any Aussie poems posted. But you wonโ€™t have to dig too deep! Thank you ๐Ÿ™‚

      1. I love SA. Glenelg is one of the best places Iโ€™ve ever been. Iโ€™ll let the book post sit for a day or two, then Iโ€™ll post a poem from it here. Iโ€™ll make sure itโ€™s a Aussie one ๐Ÿ™‚
