Too thin –
you now exist
within
a pause
as dawn retracts
her claws
from day;
you fade, while I
must stay.

too much coffee, too little sleep, a love of words…

you fade, while I

Wow! Ryan, this is a superbly written musette and the image is stunning. Your words both haunt and sadden though I can truly say that I have not experienced the kind of heaviness I feel while reading your words – especially those last ones. An emotionally raw write, my friend.

Thanks, Thomas. I seem to have tapped into a place from my high school years lately – some stuff that I probably wasn’t equipped to deal with at the time and so just tucked it away… I blame the musette, the form is like a key to forgotten doorways.

You are welcome, Ryan. It’s interesting how the things we bury in our minds eventually find their way to the surface on the heels of a poetic form. The senryu has done that for me.

“As dawn retracts her claws” – very strong there. Love how you’ve captured memory here – perfect image as well. Hope all is well in your world, my friend!

Yes, all’s well – leaving for work now wearing a mask because I’m sick again! I can’t believe it! I keep picking up cold viruses! Have a good evening π

Awesome. I’m really liking this form. I actually wrote one the other day, thanks to you. I’ll post it later this week I think. I want to do some artwork to it first.

Have a wonderful day Ryan.

Ohhh.. definitely gave me chills and goosebumps.. ahh how I have missed your poems.
A memory that vanishes away with the dreams and sleep. Again, you show that not the departed but the one remaining at the dock, is the saddest.

So many things can make an appearance in that lonely moment of daybreak when all else is stripped away…
Thank you for understanding, as always Dajena π

Oh yes, I understand it perfectly. So much is hidden in us, that it takes only one little thing to make the wheels start turning.
You are always welcome, and looking forward to maybe a chance of writing with you π

The memories of someone we once loved, will, always and forever, haunt us, no matter how much we longed to be, exorcized from them, there’s, no way out, we can only, detox ourselves, little by little, getting off the, dependencies, bit by bit, until, one day, we get our, old selves from before, back again.
