Bonnie & Clyde

On a Monday I met her, but should’ve known better-
moon days bode ill for new friends.
Lunar sea tides with light and dark sides
make Monday trysts wane to weak ends.

Aphelion eyes, dark hair and toned thighs
presaged a blue moon ascending.
With a wink and a gun, she blocked out the sun
in total eclipse, never-ending.

Said, taking my hand: youโ€™ve the look of a man
whoโ€™d rather not sleep โ€™til heโ€™s dead.
I refuse to work harder or pay for my Prada,
letโ€™s dance with the Devil instead.

We ran for a time on a dream and a dime,
both stolen and hard to sustain.
At the trailโ€™s grim end, a posse of men
machine-gunned loveโ€™s final refrain.

    1. Yep, nothing good can come from such meetings ๐Ÿ˜‰ Thanks once again, Beth. I’m glad you liked it. Rhyming poetry isn’t my strong point.

Wonderful story in this one. I loved the description of Aphelion eyes. I’m still thinking about how that would look ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Could a rhyming poem be more moving and absolutely brilliant? I don’t think so.
