Wedding Poem

It’s a fleeting moment–
a red sky at twilight,
rushing to the long night;
the last russet leaf
clinging to bough
as autumn inhales,

breathes out.

You know this, you’ve felt it
in the grey light of dawn,
in that pause
between waking and finding.
You’ve heard it whisper
through the dry grass
of summer–a promise
tossed on the wind.

Yesterday’s smoke
blows over fields,
tomorrow hides
inside dreams.
This hand in your hand
is the one, the only
true kingdom

under the sun.

  1. This is really great. The imagery with autumn especially got to me. I would like to share this for my “Sunday Share” post that I do on, you guessed it!, Sundays. Would you allow me to share and of course credit and link back to you?

    1. Im flattered. Yes, of course you can and thank you for your courtesy in asking. I’m glad you stopped by – your blog looks very interesting. I’ll have to head back to ‘Prologue’ and begin my journey from the start 🙂

Thank you for your lovely comments 🙂

      1. You’ve already made me wish I’d kept a journal. What you’re giving by reading and transcribing is huge-what greater gift is there than showing you care? I’m looking forward to digging deeper. Very cool 🙂

      2. You have! You’re poems, right? This process has made me wish I didn’t keep my very sporadic journals for fear someone will someday read them. ugh! Mine did not have the poise and dignity of Babu’s. Thank you so much for your kind words and your reading interest. I guess you really meant it when you said you’d start reading at the beginning! Thanks and thanks again!

Ryan, the above lines that caused me to pause, they’re beautifully visual and triggered so many thought and memories that I actually lost myself for a moment. Thank you for that. 🙂 Lovely poem, please enjoy the week ahead. ~ Mia
