Welcome!
My name is Ryan Stone, I’m a freelance writer from Melbourne, Australia. I have no formal credentials, just an observer’s eye and a mad appetite for books. I’m rough around the edges but the right turn of phrase will stop me dead in my tracks every time. I love Metallica and Ted Kooser with equal passion and my closest friend in the world is my Belgian Malinois.
Thanks for stopping, please feel free to say hi π

I have been invited but haven’t visited yet. I do intend to go soon though! I have had a dog from an early age, the first one, Jet (he was jet black) was wonderful with people but was always scrapping with other dogs. I am now working with my fourth guide dog. all of my dogs have been males with the exception of my last dog, Drew who sadly died in March 2011. I wrote a funny poem about my current dog,Trigger which can be found here, http://newauthoronline.com/2016/02/03/the-hungry-hound/. Kevin

Hi Ryan,
An anonymous judge in a poetry contest I recently entered (took the first place award) recommended I read some of your work on your website. She/he could tell by the subject matter of my poem that I was or had been a police officer. I’m very thankful to whoever that judge is as I really enjoyed reading your pieces. Powerful, and your imagery so vivid. And as a former K-9 officer, your poem “Green Dream” brought a tear to my eye. Thanks for sharing your beautiful and heartfelt work.

Hey, I’m Ryan Stone too! It’s funny, back in college, I wrote a line in a poem: “I am a turned century as much as I am turned by the centuries.” And you used an eerily similar line too, being a fellow from the other side of the world with the exact same name.
I love your work! Keep it up, fellow namesake.
