I watched a documentary on this once. It’s interesting to me that something like this can be both grisly and poetic at the same time. I love the finality and not being able to let go that your poem captures here!

Grief is never as easy as setting those ashes free, because we are carrying the losses in our hearts and souls, and something that’s already that deep inside, can’t get drilled back out immediately, it takes time, and sometimes, we can’t heal back up properly, even after so much time has, passed…
